Govt Wants to Start Resettling Refugees: Minister, Irrawaddy, Saw Yan Naing, 23 April 2012

Many refugees from conflict, and mine, affected areas of Myanmar/Burma reside in camps in Thailand. ON 21 April, during a meeting with the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) in Mae Hong Son, Thailand, Railways Minister Aung Min, the chief government negotiator in talks with ethnic armed groups, stated that the government wanted the refugees returned within the coming 3 months, prior to monsoon.
KNPP Secretar 1, Khu Oo Reh, stated that movement of the refugees would not be possible prior to mine clearance in the conflict areas.
