In eastern Burma, landmines remain an invisible curse to farmers, Democratic Voice of Burma

Video focuses on mines laid along the electrical power infrastructure in Kayah/Karenni State. The video interviews an official of the Myanmar Electric Power Enterprise who states that workers on the power lines have been injured and killed by landmines. Karenni community leader calls for the removal of mines in the area. Although not specifically noted in the video, it is possible to see the brush fencing surrounding a power pylon behind a villager interviewed in the video. The brush fence is installed to limit access by people and animals to the bottom of the pylon which is mined. These fences deteriorate in a year or two due to weather and insects, and must regularly be replaced.
