Residents of Chin State of Myanmar fled to the Indian State of Mizoram due to armed conflict between the Arakan Army and the Tatmadaw (Myanmar Army). Landmines were laid by either one of the combatants or both resulting in casualties on the Myanmar-India border in January and February 2018 (see previous post). Mizo authorities have now grouped the refugees from Myanmar, numbering over 1000, at a single location in order to coordinate food, essential commodities and relief materials. Some mine clearance activities on the Indian side of the border were reported.
